For Consumers
How do I place an order for delivery?
Individuals and one-off customers book online at /delivery/consumer — no account needed. Enter the pickup restaurant, the delivery address, your schedule and the order details, review the delivery price, and pay securely. Businesses that already have an HDS account book through the customer portal instead. Either way you order and pay for the food itself directly with the restaurant.

For Drivers
What requirements do I need to be a driver?
You must be 21+ years old, have a valid driver's license, auto insurance in your name, and a reliable vehicle. Apply through our driver application, where you'll upload your documents and complete required training.
How much can I earn?
You are paid per completed delivery under the current Independent Contractor Agreement, which is where every amount and eligibility rule lives — including waiting-time and cancellation compensation. You review and accept it as part of your application, before any delivery. HDS does not guarantee any minimum volume of orders, hours, or earnings.
Can I choose my schedule?
Yes — you work when you want, choose your days, and there are no minimum hours required. It's independent work.
What is the application process like?
Apply online — choose your language, review communication consent, review and accept the Independent Contractor Agreement, provide your personal information, upload your license and insurance, and complete required training. Our team will follow up by email once your application is reviewed.
Where do I apply to become a driver?
Everything is handled through our secure online application — you submit your information, review the contractor agreement, and upload your license and insurance documents.
When do I receive my payments?
Payment timing and method are set out in the current Independent Contractor Agreement, which you review and accept as part of your application.
What type of vehicle do I need?
Any reliable vehicle works — car, SUV, or truck. It must be insured in your name and in good operating condition.
What areas can I work in?
You can select your preferred work areas during application. We operate throughout the greater Houston area and its surrounding cities. See our coverage area.
How do I download the Cartwheel driver app?
Download it from your device's app store (Android or iOS). Make sure your device is updated to the latest OS version for best performance.
How do I log into the Cartwheel app?
You need three pieces of information: Company name (HDS), your assigned Username, and your Password. Enter these on the login screen and tap 'Login'. Your dispatcher will provide these credentials.
What app permissions do I need to enable?
Critical permissions: Location services set to 'Always On' and Background App Refresh enabled. The app only tracks your location when you turn on the 'Visible' toggle, but these permissions must be set correctly for proper functionality.
How do I start receiving orders in Cartwheel?
After logging in, go to the main menu and turn ON the 'Visible' toggle. This tells the system you're available to receive delivery orders. Remember to turn this off when you finish your shift.
What types of orders will I receive?
Two types: orders assigned directly to you — swipe 'Accept Order' to accept, or tap X to decline — and orders available to multiple drivers, where you swipe 'Claim Order' to take it.
How do I navigate to pickup and delivery locations?
Accepted orders appear in the 'My Route' tab, organized in delivery order. Tap 'Map' to see your route, then tap the navigation icon to open your preferred maps app (Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze — configurable in Profile settings).
What's the pickup process in the app?
At the restaurant: collect the order, verify all items are included, then swipe 'Complete Pick Up'. You can view order details, customer info, and special comments by tapping the order, and use the phone icon to call or text the customer or restaurant.
What payment types will I encounter?
Three types: Prepaid (already paid, just deliver), Cash (collect payment and return it to the restaurant), and Payment Unknown (check the receipt and upload a photo to determine type).
How do I complete a delivery in the app?
At the delivery location: tap 'Upload Pic' if a photo is required, then swipe 'Complete Dropoff'. You can upload additional photos from the History tab after completion.
How does the app handle multiple orders?
Accept orders as they come in. The app organizes them in 'My Route' in an efficient delivery sequence — follow the suggested order and mark each delivery complete individually.
What if I can't complete a pickup or delivery?
Use the 'Initiate Return' function. Select a reason — unverified recipient, unreachable destination, or other — and include specific comments to help resolve the situation.
What settings can I customize in the app?
In the Profile tab: upload a profile picture, choose your navigation app (Google Maps/Apple Maps/Waze), enable return routing, set additional notifications for idle periods, and access tutorial videos.
How do I reset my Cartwheel password?
On the login screen, tap 'Forgot password', enter your Company name and Username, then 'Reset password'. You'll receive an SMS verification code (phone number must be registered). Enter the code, create a new password, and log in.
Who do I contact for Cartwheel app issues?
For app technical issues: support@trycartwheel.com or use 'Report a problem' in the app. For work-related issues (pay, schedules, orders): contact Houston Delivery Services.
